June in Labin and Rabac
Starting from June 12, until September 11 on Tuesdays at 9:30 PM there’s a free guided sightseeing tour around Labin Old town. Discover the secrets of Labin from your guide dressed in festive mining clothing who will tell you everything about the famous Labin republic and the miners’ riot. Female guides are dressed in the goddess Sentona’s dress – the local patroness of travelers. They will take you to Liburnian age, through medieval secrets and legends of the noble palaces, such as the Baroque palace Battiala-Lazzarini, now home to the National museum with a mine replica on the ground floor. They will introduce you with the exciting life of Labin-born theologian Matthias Flacius Illyricus, the closest associate of a Lutheran reformer Martin Luther. The tour ends at 11 PM with indigenous local produce tasting at Art gastro gallery at Palazzo Negri. The tour is free of charge, available in Croatian, English, German and Italian.
This summer at the waterfront in Rabac on Fridays enjoy the indigenous Istrian produce at the traditional handmade and gourmet fair Istrian Lifestyle. Taste and choose world award winning olive oil and Labin area wines, meat delicacies – Istrian prosciutto, sausages, dried pork loin, home-made juices and jams, goat cheese… Relax with live evergreen music, seductive scents of lavender produce and choose original hand-made souvenirs.
Rabac waterfront, 8 – 11 PM
Once again the traditional summer carnival in Rabac will make everyone dancing on the waterfront and promenades. Hosted by the local carnival group Labinjonska kompanija domoća folšarija, from 7 PM the international carnival parade gathers in front of Maslinica bay hotels. Accompanied by the brass orchestra, drums and accordions the cheerful parade will walk down the Rabac promenade all the way to waterfront, where carnival groups present their masks, fun acts and dance choreographies. Afterwards join the masquerade dance till late night.
Experience the town fest Petrova in Labin Old town, traditionally marking St. Peter and Paul day and the beginning of summer. Since ancient times the longest days of the whole year were ideal to organize a fair (called samonj in the local dialect) offering local Labin area produce, as well as other parts of Istria. Successful trade was always concluded with a glass of wine and a party, and Petrova fest was also known as the fair where local boys bought engagement rings for their girlfriends from the travelling jewelers and filigrees. The fest starts at 8 PM with performances by folk dance groups, aspiring young singers from Labin area, Mauro Staraj and live concert by the leading star singer Dražen Zečić. Opening ceremony of the 16th Labin Art Republic, the main summer cultural event in Eastern Istria region, starts at 10 PM by raising the LAR flag on the balcony of the National museum. The party continues during the night with live music at well-known Špina stage.
Classical summer in Labin begins as part of Labin Art Republic opening. During July and August enjoy the various and rich classical music program, beginning with the concert of the ensemble Alisios Camerata - Mia Elezović, piano/ Davorin Brozić, clarinet / Vlatka Peljhan, violin, viola / Alja Mandič, cello. All concerts are held at the parish church of Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Labin Old town, at 9 PM.

The award winning family of olive growers, whose oil have been awarded the highest marks in the prestigious Flos Olei guide for many years, recently re-confirmed their quality by winning the gold medal at the international competition Olive Japan 2018.
