Hiking along the mining heritage trails with a visit to the Labin City Apiary and the 10th Labin Honey Days
The Eastern Istria Tourist Board Cluster and the Labin Beekeeping Association invite you to a free guided hike along the Mining Heritage Trails with a visit to the Labin City Apiary and the 10th Labin Honey Days.
When: Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Time: Gathering from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., hike begins at 10:00 a.m.
Where: Memorial space to the miner – the miner fighter (next to the Labin Bus Station)
Trail description:
From the Monument to the Fighting Miner we continue towards the Labin Miners’ Square. On the way we pass by houses built for machine operators, the so-called Kazakapa, and then by Kazarmon. All the same shapes of buildings in which miners lived, witnesses of times gone by, those who with the pit
everyday life. The urban planning and architectural design of the new settlement was entrusted to the young, established architect Eugenio Montuori, a convinced follower of modern, functional and rational architecture. We continue towards Pijacalo, where Šoht proudly welcomes us. The Labin Šoht has been renovated and shines in a new guise. The path takes us further towards the settlement of Vilete, from the Italian Villete, meaning small villas, and the buildings were built for the management staff of the mine. In Vilete, you can visit the educational city apiary. We continue towards the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, which offers a captivating view, and then the path takes us towards the Old Town of Labin. The walk ends at the 10th Labin Honey Days in the small hall of the Franko Mileta sports center, where walk participants can enjoy a free lunch with a honey krafi and a honey tasting.
Trail length: about 3.5 km
Trail difficulty: easy, climb medium demanding
The trail is suitable for anyone who has no walking difficulties, including children who can keep up with adults. We recommend walking shoes, layered clothing, walking poles, and water. If you are taking your dog for a walk, the dog must be on a leash, under the supervision of the owner.
